David Warner has been given the old neighborhood goodbye from Test cricket he needed after the initial batsman was named in an unaltered Australia line-up for the third and last test against Pakistan in Sydney one week from now.
Warner said in June he needed to call time on his 12-year test vocation at the Sydney Cricket Ground and, with the Australians holding an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, the 37-year-old has been allowed his desire.
"The Public Choice Board have held similar crew from Melbourne to Sydney as we hope to decisive victory the test series," boss selector George Bailey said.
"We anticipate observing David Warner's last test match and his extraordinary vocation at his home ground."
Sydneysider Warner went into the ongoing series with question marks over his structure because of an absence of trials, yet a rapidfire 164 in the main innings of the initial test in Perth eradicated any questions over his situation in the group.
Australia won that test by 360 runs before Pat Cummins put on a man-of-the-match execution to seal the second test in Melbourne last week, the commander accepting 10 wickets as Pakistan lost by 79 runs in four days.
The series win was the fourth in succession at home for the Australians, who have won 10 tests out of 12 since Cummins took over as commander in front of the 2021-22 Remains series.
Pakistan will go into the gathering at the Sydney Cricket Ground searching for their most memorable test win in Australia for almost thirty years.
