Pakistan hope to make a statement in Boxing Day Test

Pakistan are good to go to play the second Trial of the three-match series against Australia and their eleventh Test match at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Shan Masood-drove outfit will be anxious to make a statement with the series still available to anyone.

Pakistan played a two-day practice match against Victoria XI, from 22-23 December, to calibrate their arrangements. The two-day game played at Intersection Oval, which finished as a draw, gave the Pakistan hitters and bowlers much-required match practice.

The series opener at Perth saw Pakistan face rout by 360 runs, yet the silver lining for the guests was the exhibition of the two debutants, Aamir Jamal and Khurram Shahzad, who got seven and five wickets separately in the match. Aamir will be hoping to develop on his splendid execution as he enrolled the 6th best bowling figures for a Pakistan player on debut with his 6-111.

In the interim, Khurram has been controlled out of the Test series because of a pressure crack while Abrar Ahmed stays inaccessible for choice for the MCG Test.

Off-spinner Sajid Khan, who flew in as the back-up spinner for Abrar, has been added to Pakistan's 12-man crew for the MCG Test alongside Hasan Ali and Mir Hamza. Wicketkeeper-player Mohammad Rizwan will supplant Sarfaraz Ahmed behind the stumps. The last XI will be divulged on match day.

Pakistan commander Shan Masood, discussing the group piece for the subsequent Test, said, "I trust in rolling out less improvements in the group after a misfortune to keep up with solidness yet you need to settle on a couple of strategic choices and afterward sadly we had injury worries too.

"Khurram not being accessible because of injury is such a misfortune. We've acquired Mir Hamza in his place, who has done similarly well in the homegrown circuit. We figure he can copy Khurram's control and steady lengths."

Discussing Hasan and Rizwan's consideration in the 12-man crew, Shan said, "Hasan replaces Faheem Ashraf on the grounds that he is profoundly capable and has a decent Test record. Tragically, his vocation has been a stop-start because of wounds yet his Test numbers are as yet great. Getting Rizwan for Sarfaraz is a strategic choice as we feel Rizwan can bat well in these circumstances, clear from his batting records in Australia, Britain and New Zealand."

"Sajid Khan is remembered for the 12 as an expert spinner since we haven't had the potential chance to take a gander at the wicket recently as it came down today. With the 12-man crew we can take the choice on forefront turn choice toward the beginning of the day subsequent to having a decent glance at the wicket."

"We have taken a gander at a portion of our shortcomings from the Perth Test and to have the option to contend with a group like Australia, we should chip away at numerous region of the game. I realize this Test coordinate is significant concerning our Reality Test Title (WTC) standing yet there is a great deal to play for in this series and in the continuous WTC cycle."
